Softball Falls To San Diego State, 6-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team fell 6-1 to the San Diego State Aztecs in the first game of the Campbell/Cartier Softball Classic in Poway, Calif. The Buckeyes are now 3-3 this season, while the Aztecs improve to 3-7 overall.
After SDSU posted one run to open the game, Ohio State came back to tie it in the bottom of the first. Holly English was walked and would advance to third. She would score off an Aztec error when the rightfielder and centerfielder collided on a Stacy Roth hit. Ohio State evened the score, 1-1.
The Aztecs extended their lead in the sixth and seventh inning and held the Buckeyes to only three hits in the game.
SDSU’s Sandra Durazo recorded her first win of the season, completing the game and striking out five. Toni Hileman took the loss and falls to 1-1 for the season.
The Buckeyes will next compete against Cal-State Northridge tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Sportsplex USA in Poway, Calif.
