Ohio State Women’s Tennis Downs Kansas, 7-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 36 Ohio State women’s tennis team defeated No. 41 (tied) Kansas, 7-2, Friday in Durham, N.C. In their first road match of the spring, the Buckeyes improved to a perfect 5-0 in dual matches this season.
The Buckeyes won four of six singles matches. The squad was led by Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla.), who recorded a two-set victory at No. 1 over Brooke Chiller. Other Buckeyes chipping in with wins were Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich.), Michelle Matko (So., Aurora, Ill.) and Laura Maloney (Jr., Barrington, Ill.).
Ohio State swept the doubles matches. Sadhaf Pervez (Fr., Warren, N.J.) and Maloney defeated Tiffany and Lisa Mallaiah of Kansas, 9-7, at No. 3 to stay undefeated this spring.
“I’m pleased with the win,” Ohio State head coach Chuck Merzbacher said. “It’s great to win over a nationally-ranked team like Kansas. We’re looking forward to playing No. 5 Duke tomorrow.”
The Buckeyes will face fifth-ranked Duke tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
