Scarlet Wins Softball’s Championship Series – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State softball Scarlet team defeated the Gray, 2-1, in the final game of the first%^$ ever softball Scarlet and Gray Championship Series today at Buckeye Field. The game rounded out the softball%^$ fall exhibition season.%^$
%^$ In the first inning, Gray’s Holly English (Sr., Akron, Ohio/Springfield) scored on a error by catcher Annie%^$ Dedic (Fr., Yorba Linda, Calif.). The Scarlet Buckeyes got on the board in the bottom of the inning after Katie%^$ Chain (So., North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) hit a double to center field bringing home Anna Smith (Jr., Walnut,%^$ Calif./Diamond Bar). In the bottom of the third inning, Smith scored the game-winning run after a fielding error%^$ by English.%^$
%^$The Ohio State softball team will begin its regular season February 9-11, 2001, at the Auburn Tournament in Auburn, Ala.%^$
