COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State softball team was ranked 27th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. The poll, which included 243 Division I schools, was based on academic performances from last season. Ohio State’s academic year grade point average was 3.148, which was higher than any other Big Ten school. Also ranked from the Big Ten were Northwestern (36th), Purdue (37th), Iowa (48th) and Indiana (53rd).
“The academic success of our athletes is just as important to us as winning,” Linda Kalafatis, Ohio State softball head coach, said. “We are grateful to have the academic support resources that we have here at Ohio State, especially in our academic counselor, Roxanna Price. The Student Support Services Office is one of the top academic support offices in the country. It completes what we consider to be the total package for our student athletes.”
