First Day of Qualifying Complete at Women’s Tennis All-American Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s tennis player Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) posted two wins to advance to the third round at the Riviera Women’s All-American Championships Oct. 17 in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Teammate Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich./West) recorded a first-round win before falling in the second round.%^$
%^$No. 33 Dascoli, the No. 1 seed in the qualifying draw, defeated Charlotte Vernaz of Pepperdine in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. In the second round, she beat No. 58-ranked Dee Herring of SMU, 6-4, 6-3. She will face No. 46 Lindsay Blau of Arizona, a 9-16 seed, in the third round. The winner of that match will advance to the main draw of the tournament.%^$
%^$Rincon defeated Wake Forest’s Mauren Haus in the first round before falling to No. 41 Cintia Tortorella of Pepperdine, the No. 7 seed, in a close second-round match, 6-4, 7-6 (5).%^$
%^$The No. 8-ranked duo of Dascoli and Rincon will compete in the doubles main draw of the tournament, Oct. 19-22.%^$
