Women’s Tennis Dominates Miami (O.) 6-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 31-ranked Ohio State womens tennis team%^$defeated the Miami (O.) RedHawks, 6-1 in Oxford, Ohio, Wednesday%^$afternoon. The Buckeyes notched the win with victories at five singles%^$positions and two doubles spots. Ohio State is now 13-5, 5-0 in the Big%^$Ten, while Miami (O.) falls to 7-8 for the season. %^$
%^$Ohio State came on strong with No. 21 Kristy Dascoli (So., Bradenton,%^$Fla.) and Briana Harris (So., Bradenton, Fla.) defeating Natalia%^$Soetrisno and Elin Bengtsson, 8-2 at the No. 1 doubles position. Claudia%^$Castro (Fr., Onlaska, Wis.) and Laura Maloney (So., Barrington, Ill.)%^$secured the Buckeyes double point with a win over Kadija Richards and%^$Natalie Adams, 8-6 at the No. 3 post.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes would keep rolling with freshman Michelle Matko (Aurora,%^$Ill.) defeating Ivona Grujic at the No. 2 spot, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 and Harris%^$capturing a win over Richards, 6-4, 6-3. Ohio States only loss would%^$come at the No. 1 spot, snapping Dascolis 11 match winning streak. No.%^$49-ranked Dascoli would lose her first match since Feb. 13 against%^$Miamis Natalie Soetrisno in a tough three-set match, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. The%^$Buckeyes bounced back with the remaining three singles matches going to%^$the Buckeyes.%^$
%^$Ohio State travels to Illinois to compete against the Fighting Illini on%^$Saturday at 2 p.m. and Northwestern on Sunday at 10 a.m.%^$
