Dascoli Tops the Women’s Tennis ITA Rankings – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Kristy Dascoli (So., Bradenton, Fla.) is ranked No. 49 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings, released April 6.
Dascoli has been on a roll maintaining an 11-match winning streak at the No. 1 position and posting a 14-9 overall record. She has dominated her opponents. All of her wins have come in straight sets and she has only lost an average of just under four games per match.
Dascoli defeated No. 31 Massoumeh Emami of Kentucky, 6-0, 6-1 March 13 and No. 18 Lioudmilla Skavronskaia of Miami (Fla.), 6-4, 6-2 March 24. Last week, she was honored as Big Ten Athlete of the Week after compiling a 5-0 record against Big Ten opponents.
Dascoli and partner Briana Harris (So., Bradenton, Fla.) are ranked No. 21 in the nation after posting a 12-5 record as the No. 1 doubles team. The pair are 19-10 overall. The sophomore duo is on a three-match winning streak defeating Indiana’s Blanch/Wallihan, 8-3 and Purdue’s Embry/Wright, 8-3.
Ohio State women’s tennis team also received a No. 31 ranking in the nation. The Buckeyes have a 12-5 mark overall and are first in the Big Ten with a 5-0 conference record. Ohio State defeated Indiana, 4-3, which was a first for the program since 1978 and Purdue, 5-2, March 28.
The Buckeyes take on Miami (O.) Wednesday in Oxford, Ohio and then travel to Illinois to compete against the Fighting Illini Saturday and Northwestern Sunday. Ohio State will be back home for the next two weeks, competing against Iowa April 16, Wisconsin April 18 and Minnesota April 23.
