The Women’s Lacrosse Team Can’t Hold Off Penn State Rally – Ohio State Buckeyes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Penn State women’s lacrosse team used a late game rally to hold off Ohio State 10-8 Friday evening. The Lions move their record to 10-4, while the Buckeyes fall to 7-5.
The Lions jumped out to 6-0 advantage to start the game. The Lions took a 6-2 lead into halftime. The Buckeyes came out strong to start the second half, scoring six unanswered goals to lead 8-6. However, Penn State scored the last four goals to win.
Erin Andersen (So., Huntington, N.Y.) and Celeste Cianfrani (So., Telford, Pa.) each scored three goals to lead the Buckeyes. Megan Barnett snagged 11 saves.
After the game Ohio State coach Sue Stimmel said she was proud of her team’s effort. “I’m disappointed that all that effort didn’t get the victory,” she added.
Ohio State will play again on Sunday at Bucknell.
