Ohio State Notches A 7-0 Shutout Over Marshall – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State womens tennis team defeated Marshall 7-0 at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center today. The Buckeyes are 9-3 for the season and have now won their last six matches.
Kristy Dascoli (So., Bradenton, Fla.) and partner Briana Harris (So., Bradenton, Fla.) captured the first Buckeye point with their win over Anna Mitina and Alyssa Bengel. The sophomore duo were down 2-0, but came back to net the win, 8-3. Michelle Matko (Fr., Aurora, Ill.) and Monica Rincon (Fr., Lapeer, Mich.) followed at the No. 2 doubles spot by defeating Sheela Cabiling and Tara McGuire, 8-5.
Up 2-0, Dascoli defeated Mitina in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-0 and Harris in the same fashion defeated Cabiling in 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. Matko would have some trouble against McGuire after falling in the second set, but would fight hard to post her seventh win at the No 2 spot, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Rincon down 0-3 in the second-set came back to cap the Buckeye win with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Bengel at the No. 4 spot.
The Buckeyes (9-3, 3-0) are back home against Kentucky on Saturday, March 13, 1999 at 10 a.m. at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
