Softball Wins the Georgia State Softball Classic – Ohio State Buckeyes

Atlanta, Ga. – The Ohio State Buckeyes (4-6 overall) took home the Georgia State Softball Classic Championship with a 3-1 overall record. The only dark cloud of the weekend was todays 7-4 loss to Tennessee Tech in OSUs final game of the tournament.
One bad inning proved fatal for the Buckeyes. In the top of the second, Tennessee Tech jumped on OSU starter Toni Hileman (Jr., Alliance, Ohio) for five runs off five hits. Her record now falls to 2-3 on the year.
The Buckeyes chipped away at the lead with a run in the third, two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth.
Offensively, the Buckeyes were paced by Jaime Chenevey (Sr., Wooster, Ohio) and Renae Weigel (Jr., Coldwater, Ohio). They each went 2-for-2 with two runs batted in.
“Its a good thing anytime time you win a tournament,” Head Coach Linda Kalafatis said. “But this was a game we should have won.”
First baseman Samantha Kimura (Fr., Placentia, Calif.) increased her team high hitting streak to seven consecutive games.
The Buckeyes will hit the road next weekend against when they compete in the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
