Women’s Swimming Set for Big Ten Meet – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State womens swimming and diving team (8-5, 1-1 in the Big Ten) is preparing for the Big Ten championship at Minnesota this weekend.%^$
%^$PITTSBURGH RECAP%^$
%^$OSU fell to Pittsburgh 146-97 in its last home meet of the season. Ann Stephens was a double winner, capturing the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Heidi Hazen and Keryn Krynauw both won their individual events, the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke respectively.%^$
%^$1998 BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP %^$
%^$Last year at Big Tens held in Bloomington, Ind. the Buckeyes finished ninth with 205 points. Top finishers for the Buckeyes: diver Carrie Ziebarth finished third in both the three-meter and platform events, Julie Hutzler sixth in the 100 backstroke and 13th in the 200 backstroke, Heidi Hazen finished 11th in the 100 butterfly and 21st in the 200 butterfly. The 200 medley relay (Baran, Hazen, Hutzler, and Kuck) finished fifth with a time of 1:44.40, an OSU record. The 400 freestyle relay (York, Ullman, Hazen, and Stephens) finished tenth with a time of 3:30.06. Michigan captured the Big Ten championship title with 788.50 points followed by Minnesota with 644.50 points. %^$

%^$The womens Big Ten championship meet will be held at the University of Minnesota, Thurs. Feb. 18-Sat. Feb. 20 at the University Aquatic Center. Events will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Results will be updated after each day of final events.%^$

%^$ZIEBARTH NAMED BIG TEN DIVER OF THE WEEK %^$
%^$Carrie Ziebarth was named Big Ten Diver of the week for Feb. 3, 1999, after a winning weekend. Ziebarth won both the 1 and 3 meter diving events against Denison, earning her season high of 297.07 in the 1-meter diving event. She continued to win on Saturday winning the 3-meter event. She has qualified for the NCCAs in both the 1 and 3-meter diving events.%^$
