Women’s Tennis Inks Recruit – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s tennis coach Chuck Merzbacher announced the signing of Lindsay Williams from Beverly Hills, Mich., to a national letter of intent to play for the Buckeyes beginning in the 2000-01 season.
“I am so excited to go to OSU next year,” Williams said. “I thought the team and coaches were wonderful and I loved the campus. I think Ohio State is going to be the perfect fit for me.”
“As one of the most highly recruited player in the Midwest this year, we expect Lindsay to come in and be a big part of what we’re doing here at Ohio State,” Merzbacher said. “Her love and enthusiasm for Ohio State will have a positive effect on everyone around her.”
Williams, from Birmingham Groves High School, was a state finalist in 1999. She is a four-time all-state honoree and a four-time team MVP. She had an overall record of 86-7 throughout her high school career and was a four-time regional and three-time league champion.
A fine student as well, Williams has been the editor of the Birmingham Groves school newspaper for three years. She also is involved in community service, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and the Mission for the Homeless in Detroit.
