Postgame Quotes
Game 4, Nov. 6, 1999
No. 3 Michigan – 2
No. 1 Iowa – 1
Iowa head coach Beth Beglin
“I thought Michigan totally outplayed us in the first half and we outplayed them in the second half. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. We didn’t generate enough shots on goal and were not dangerous enough in our circle and that’s what it came down to.”
Michigan head coach Marcia Pankratz
“I’m so proud of the team because it’s an awfully difficult tournament. It’s the toughest tournament in the nation. No. 2 playing No. 3, we just beat No. 4 on No. 11’s home field. It’s a very tough tournament for us to play three days in a row against unbelievably great competition. I’m really proud of them. It’s deserved because they played with heart and played as a team.”
Michigan junior Kelly Gannon, Tournament MVP
“It was ‘groundhog day’ of yesterday. We’ve been working on those tips and they finally paid off. I think I’ve scored more this tournament than I have all season. It’s unbelievable right now.”
