Women’s Tennis Beats Penn State 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Ohio State women’s tennis team picked up its second win in Big Ten play, defeating Penn State 5-2 today to conclude its regular season. The Buckeyes improve their record to 9-13 overall and 2-8 in the Big Ten, while the Nittany Lions fall to 2-17 and 0-10 in conference play.
%^$The Buckeyes came out smoking as they swept the Nittany Lions in all three doubles matches. Ohio State won the doubles point and took an early 1-0 lead.
%^$In singles action, Ohio State took four of six matches from Penn State. Briana Harris (Fr., Bradenton, Fla.) at the No. 2 position and Mandy Yeley (Sr., Wheelersburg, Ohio) at the No. 3 spot both fought back to win their matches in three sets after dropping their first sets.
%^$The Buckeyes finished off the Nittany Lions with big wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Carolina Nahuz (Sr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) downed Carly Drum 7-6 (3), 6-4 and Monica Koplas (Jr., Scarborough, Ontario) beat Meara Abramson in two sets 6-4, 6-2.
%^$The Buckeyes will next travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the Big Ten Championships on April 30 through May 3.%^$
