Track Running at Penn Relays – Ohio State Buckeyes

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ohio State track and field teams competed in the first day of a three day competition at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. The Buckeyes have slated a very successful start at the world-renowned event with two first place finishes.
Newcomer Ian Connor (Fr., Lexington, Ohio) captured first place in the college men’s steeplechase with a time of 8:55.20, while teammate Ayanna Reece (Jr., Bronx, N.Y.) placed first in her heat of the 400 hurdles (61.41).
The womens 4 x 400 relay team of Cathy Rejouis (Jr., Calgary, Can.), Reece, Dominque Calloway (So., Aurora, Colo.) and Shanda McJunkins (Sr., Cleveland Heights, Ohio) finished sixth with a time of 3:42.81. The womens 4 x 100 relay team of Rejouis, Donica Merriman (Fr., Trotwood, Ohio), McJunkins and Calloway finished ninth (49.68).
OSU assistant coach Robert Gary (OSU, 1992-95) took first place in the Olympic Development Steeplechase with a time of 8:34.30.
The Buckeyes will resume competition tomorrow for day two of the Penn Relays.
