COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team (28-20 overall, 5-11 in Big Ten) took a pair of games over the Wright State Raiders (14-24), 9-0 (in five innings) and 4-3.
In game one, the Buckeyes were unstoppable on both sides of the ball. Holly English (Fr., Akron, Ohio), led the way with a 3-for-3, three RBI day. Meaghan Robinson (Jr., Naples, Fla.) earned the win with a five-inning complete game shutout. Her record improves to 5-6 on the season.
In game two, the Raiders jumped on the Buckeyes with three runs in the top of the third inning. But the Buckeyes would rally by chipping away at the three run deficit. They added a run in the fourth and fifth innings to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the sixth, Jaime Chenevey (Jr., Wooster, Ohio) and Candace Kollen (Sr., Cerritos, Calif.) drove in the tying and winning runs, respectively, to give the Buckeyes the 4-3 win. Toni Hileman (So., Alliance, Ohio) improved her record to 5-3 on year with six innings of work. Jodi Dolan (Sr., Fallon, Nev.) worked the seventh to earn her first save of the season.
