Women’s Tennis Loses Tough Battle Against Purdue – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team lost a hard fought Big Ten match to the Purdue Boilermakers at the Stickney Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Boilermakers came into the contest in a three-way tie for first place in the league. Purdue (11-7, 6-1) took two of three doubles matches from the Buckeyes, winning the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead.
The Buckeyes fought back in six intense singles matches, but came up short losing four of six matches. Mandy Yeley (Sr., Wheelersburg, Ohio) defeated Purdue’s Erika Quebec in three sets at the No.3 position and freshman phenom Kristy Dascoli (Bradenton, Fla.) also won her match in three extended sets to up her record to 22-8. Dascoli currently has the best record in Big Ten play at the No. 1 spot (7-1) and has really turned up the heat in the Spring portion of the Buckeyes schedule winning 18 of 22 matches.
Ohio State will be back in action tomorrow as the team plays host to the Fighting Illini at the Stickney Tennis Center at 10 a.m. The meet will conclude the home portion of the Buckeyes schedule.
