Freshman shines in Women’s Tennis loss – Ohio State Buckeyes

Evanston, Ill. – The Ohio State women’s tennis team fell to Northwestern (8-9, 3-2) in a Big Ten showdown at the Johnson Tennis Center, Saturday. The Buckeyes are on a current three meet skid, dropping to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten.
Northwestern took four of six singles matches from the Buckeyes and won two of three doubles matches in its winning effort.
Freshman sensation Kristy Dascoli (Bradenton, Fla.) improved her record to 19-8 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten with her win over Northwestern’s Katherine Nasser, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. Carolina Nahuz (Sao Paulo, Brazil), the lone senior on the OSU squad, earned the Buckeyes other point with a two set victory over Robyn Porter at the No. 5 singles position.
In doubles action, Dascoli and Briana Harris (Fr., Bradenton, Fla.) teamed up to win Ohio State’s only doubles match at the No. 1 spot. The Dascoli and Harris duo continue to show poise and composure as freshmen, dominating their opponents in doubles competition.
The Buckeyes are on the road again tomorrow. Ohio State will travel to Madison, Wis., to do battle with the 19th ranked Wisconsin Badgers at the Nielson Tennis Stadium.
Match play is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Wisconsin is coming off its first Big Ten loss of the season. The Badgers were downed by the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, 4-3.
