Women’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Minnesota – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State Women’s Tennis team dropped their second straight match today, as Minnesota defeated the Buckeyes 6-1 at the Jesse Owens Tennis Center. With the loss, Ohio State fell to 6-6 (0-2 in the Big Ten), while Minnesota improved to 6-4 (2-0 in the Big Ten). Minnesota took the doubles point, winning two of the three matches, and the received strong play throughout its lineup, winning five of the six singles matches. The bright spot of the day for the Buckeyes was once again freshman Kristy Dascoli (Bradenton, Fla.). Playing Minnesota’s Nora Sauska, who carried a 17-4 record into the match, Dascoli lost the first set 6-3, and was down 4-1 in the second before staging a ferocious comeback. Dascoli proceeded to win 12 of the match’s final 13 games to take the second set 7-5, and the third 6-0. The come-from-behind win upped her record to 15-7 overall, and 11-1 in spring play. Ohio State will be idle until March 24-25 when it travels to Las Vegas, Nev. For matches against Kansas State and UNLV.
