Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No.1 North Carolina – Ohio State Buckeyes

BALTIMORE – North Carolina’s top-ranked women’s lacrosse team %^$employed a balanced scoring attack Friday night to defeat Ohio State 15-5 %^$in women’s college lacrosse action at Homewood Field on the Johns Hopkins %^$University campus in Baltimore, Md.%^$%^$
Coach Jenny Slingluff’s team improved to 5-0 on the season behind three %^$goals and one assist by junior attacker Erin McGinnis and one goal and %^$two assists by senior attacker Lori Pasquantonio. Eleven different Tar %^$Heels scored goals in the game as Carolina outshot Ohio State 30-18.%^$%^$
The Tar Heels led 7-2 at the half and extended their lead with an 8-3 %^$scoring blitz in the second half. The Buckeyes fell to 1-2 on the %^$season. A pair of Buckeyes scored two goals for OSU but it wasn’t enough %^$to offset the balanced effort of UNC.%^$%^$
The Tar Heels will now play at George Mason on Sunday, March 22, 1998 at %^$1 p.m. against the 1-2 Patriots.%^$%^$
