Track & Field Team Sends Porter and Goines to NCAAs – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Veterans Tamieka Porter (triple jump, Sr., Escondido, Calif.) and Erika Goines (shot put, Sr., Zanesville, Ohio) will compete in the NCAA Championships this Friday and Saturday at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind.
Porter has had an impressive indoor campaign qualifying early in the season and improving consistently every week. She broke the school and French Field House records in the triple jump with a mark of 42’10-1/4? on Saturday, Feb.21. The previous school record (42’8-3/4?) and French Field House record (42’5-1/2?) were set by former teammate Shandi Boyd-Pleasant (1994-97) in 1996.
All-American Goines provisionally qualified for the NCAAs during the second week of the season, but secured her qualifying status on Feb. 7 when she recorded a personal best throw of 51’9-3/4.” With this performance she broke her own school record of 50’8-1/2? which she recorded in 1996.
