Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls Short to Ohio University – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team competed in their first meet of the season at Ohio University. The meet came down to the final relays, as OSU finished just behind OU by only seven points. The OSU 400 medley relay team of Julie Hutzler (Sr., Hampton, Va.), Keryn Krynauw (Fr., Pietermarizburg, S. Africa), Heidi Hazen (Jr., Mentor, Ohio), and Tanya Brouillette ( Fr., North Attleboro, Mass.) won the event with a time of 3:54.62. Krynauw won the 200 breaststroke, with a winning time of 2:18.11. Hutzler was a winner in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:05.50, and Hazen also was an event winner in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.76. The Buckeyes dominated both diving events. Melanie Johnson (Fr., Boca Raton, Fla.) earned first place in the one-meter diving with a total of 261.83 points. OSU’s Carrie Ziebarth (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) won the three-meter diving event scoring 308.85 points. Ohio State will be on the road this weekend. On Friday they head to Michigan State, and on Saturday, to Bowling Green. – OSU –
