Womens Swimming Earns First Big Ten Victory at Michigan State – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Buckeyes Earn First Big Ten Victory at Michigan State COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team won it’s first Big Ten meet of the season at Michigan State.
Four Buckeyes were triple winners, Erica Fischer (Jr., Carson City, Nev.), Heidi Hazen (Jr., Mentor, Ohio), Julie Hutzler (Sr., Hampton, Va.), and Keryn Krynauw (Fr., Pietermarizburg, S. Africa). Fischer won the 500 (5:04.97), 1000 freestyle (10:19.29), and the 200 individual medley (2:08.41). Hazen won the 100 freestyle (:53.75), 100 butterfly (:57.94), and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay. Hutzler won the 100 backstroke (:58.26), and 200 backstroke (2:04.49), and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay. Krynauw won the 100 ( 1:05.17) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.29). Kristin Sander (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio) won the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:57.05.
The OSU 200 medley relay team of Julie Hutzler (Sr., Hampton, VA), Keryn Krynauw (Fr., Pietermarizburg, S. Africa), Heidi Hazen (Jr., Mentor, Ohio), and Tanya Brouillette ( Fr., North Attleboro, Mass.) won the event with a time of 1:47.76.
The Buckeyes will swim the Bowling Green Falcons at 1 p.m., Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
