Women’s Swimming and Diving Celebrates Record Setting Meet – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team competed in their annual Scarlet and Gray intrasquad scrimmage. Both times shined as four meet records were set.
“I think it really lets us know where we stand at the beginning of the season, we saw some great times and exciting relays tonight,” head coach Neil Harper said.
The meet records were set in the 100 backstroke, 100 and 200 breaststrokes, and the 200 medley relay.
Keryn Krynauw (Fr., Pietermarizburg, S. Africa) blew her teammates out of the water in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, winning both events and establishing herself as the new record holder for both.
Julie Hutzler (Sr., Hampton, VA) looked strong in setting a meet record in the 100 backstroke.
The 200 medley relay of Hutzler, Jericho Strausbaugh (Fr., Upper Arlington, Ohio), Heidi Hazen (Jr., Mentor, Ohio), and Jo Jo Baran (So., Danville, Calif.) destroyed the meet record by almost five seconds.
“We have never been this deep in our relays before,” Harper said. “We have several options to work with for the season.”
Erica Fischer (Jr., Carson City NV.) swam a total of five events and won all four individual events she competed in.
“I am happy with a lot of the times,” Harper said. “I think our girls stepped up right away and responded well. This is a great way to start the season.”
The Buckeyes will be on the road for their next meet against Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.
