Mikesell Makes Ann Meyers-Drysdale Preseason Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association (WBCA) announced the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2023 Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award on Tuesday with senior guard Taylor Mikesell being on the list. View the full list HERE.
Named after the first player, male or female, selection to an All-American team in four-straight college seasons, the award is in its sixth year of recognizing the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I women’s basketball. Fans are encouraged to vote in each of the three rounds, with the first round of voting beginning on Friday.
Mikesell, one of five finalists for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award last season, was selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten team by both the coaches (unanimous) and the media. In 2021, she was a regional finalist for the WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the coaches and the media. Mikesell led the Buckeyes in scoring during Big Ten games with 19.9 ppg. She was atop of the Big Ten in three-point shooting, making 114 triples on the season, averaging 3.6 per game and shooting .475 from behind the arc – all figures that were second in the country. Her 114 triples marked the most in program history by anyone not named Kelsey Mitchell and ranks 17th on the program’s career list despite only playing one season as a Buckeye.
