Jaloni Cambridge Drops 41 in NCAA Second Round Loss to Notre Dame

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/11 ranked and No. 3 seeded Ohio State women's basketball team (27-8, 13-5 B1G) fell short against No. 22/25 ranked and No. 6 seeded Notre Dame (24-10, 12-6 ACC) on Monday inside the Schottenstein Center in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes fell by an 83-73 margin.

Ohio State got off to a quick start, scoring the game's first 11 points, but Notre Dame trimmed the Buckeyes' lead to 22-20 after 10 minutes of play. The Fighting Irish took its first lead of the game during the second quarter and led by a 43-35 margin going into halftime. Ohio State got as close as one in the third quarter and trailed 58-54 after 30 minutes. The Buckeyes got no closer than five points during the fourth quarter and fell by an 83-73 margin.

Jaloni Cambridge was the first in the game to reach double figures, doing so with the first basket in the second quarter and tied her career-high 41 points. Her 41 points rank second in program history in NCAA Tournament games. Elsa Lemmilä finished with 10 rebounds.

- Q1: Ohio State scored the first nine points in less than two minutes of play, prompting a Notre Dame timeout with 8:18 remaining in the frame. The Buckeyes extended their lead to 11-0 before the Fighting Irish got on the board. Notre Dame used back-to-back baskets to trim its deficit to three on two occasions, trailing 19-16 with two minutes to play in the quarter. The Fighting Irish scored the final four points of the quarter as the Buckeyes led by a 22-20 margin.
