Ohio State Hosts Howard in First Round of NCAA Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/11 ranked and No. 3 seeded Ohio State women's basketball team (26-7, 13-5 B1G) hosts No. 14 seeded Howard (26-7, 13-1 MEAC) on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and 97.1FM.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/11 ranked and No. 3 seeded Ohio State women's basketball team (26-7, 13-5 B1G) hosts No. 14 seeded Howard (26-7, 13-1 MEAC) on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and 97.1FM.
- The Buckeyes are one of six teams hosting NCAA Tournament First and Second Round games for the fourth consecutive season. Ohio State is making its 30th NCAA Tournament appearance.
- In the Big Ten Tournament, Ohio State made its fourth semifinals appearance in the past five seasons. The Buckeyes beat No. 13 seeded Indiana in the second round by an 83-59 margin and No. 4 seeded and No. 19/20 ranked Minnesota in the quarterfinals by a 60-55 margin. Ohio State fell to top-seeded and No. 2 ranked UCLA in the semifinals, 72-62.
- Senior Chance Gray was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team after averaging 18.0 points and 3.7 made three-pointers per game.
- Jaloni Cambridge earned a spot on the All-America Second Team by The Athletic, AP, USBWA and ESPN. She was named to the All-American Third Team by The Sporting News. Cambridge also received an honorable mention from USA Today and is a regional finalist for the WBCA Coaches' All-America Team.
- Kennedy Cambridge was named a semifinalist for Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.
- Howard enters the NCAA Tournament as a No. 14 seed, holding a 26-7 overall record. The Bison went 13-1 in MEAC play this season, winning the regular season and the conference tournament.
- The Bison swept all major MEAC awards with Zennia Thomas being named MEAC Player of the Year, Ariella Henigan being named MEAC Rookie of the Year and Ty Grace being named MEAC Coach of the Year.
- Ohio State leads 4-0 in the all-time series against Howard and is 3-0 against the Bison when playing in Columbus.
- This will be the first postseason meeting between the teams and the first meeting during Coach McGuff's tenure.
