A Season of Firsts and Milestones
Aug. 31 Ohio State beats No. 13 West Virginia, 1-0, in the first live game broadcast of the Big Ten Network.
Sept. 9 Ohio State beats William & Mary, 5-0, for the Buckeyes’ biggest margin of victory since 1999.
Sept. 16 The win against Cal State Fullerton in Los Angeles was Ohio State’s first win on the West Coast in nine games all-time since the Buckeye first went to the West Coast in 1989.
Oct. 21 Ohio State shuts out Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., for the first time in program history. It marked only the second time the Buckeyes had shut out the Hoosiers overall in 47 all-time meetings.
Nov. 4 With the win at Michigan State, Ohio State sets the program record for unbeaten streak at eight-consecutive matches. The Buckeyes would extend that to 15 before their next loss.
Nov. 4 The seven-member Ohio State senior class becomes the all-time winningest class in program history. The OSU seniors would end their four-year careers with a record of 51-26-12.
Nov. 4 The win at Michigan State was Ohio State’s first win over the Spartans at Old College Field in East Lansing, Mich., since 1989, snapping an 0-7-1 skid.
Nov. 9 The win against Northwestern was the 200th career win for head coach John Bluem.
Nov. 11 The shootout win over Indiana gave Ohio State its second Big Ten championship (2000).
Nov. 11 The result against Indiana in the Big Ten championship game is recorded as a 0-0 tie, giving the Buckeyes their second shutout of the Hoosiers this season and third in 48 all-time meetings.
Nov. 19 In its fifth NCAA tournament appearance, Ohio State received its first Top 16 seed (No. 5).
Nov. 28 Ohio State hosts a second-round NCAA tournament game for the first time in program history.
Dec. 2 Ohio State plays its first game in December in program history.
Dec. 2 Ohio State hosts an NCAA Sweet 16’ game for the first time in program history.
Dec. 9 Ohio State makes its first appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight.’
Dec. 9 With the win over Bradley, the Buckeyes set the school record for home winning percentage in a season at .850 (8-1-1).
Dec. 14 Ohio State makes its first appearance in the NCAA College Cup.
Dec. 14 In the 1-0 win over Massachusetts, the Buckeyes played in front of 8,611 fans the largest crowd in program history.
Dec. 15 Ohio State is honored with its first two first-team All-Americans in program history.
Dec. 16 Ohio State makes its first appearance in the NCAA national championship game.
Dec. 17 A school-record three Buckeyes are chosen for the MLS combine.

– Season assists: Xavier Balc, 14. Previous record was 10 by Brooks Humphreys (1999).
– Season shots: Xavier Balc, 87. Previous record was 75 by Xavier Balc in 2006.
– Season shutouts: Casey Latchem, 15. Previous record was 11 by Dave Scheer in 1986.
– Assists in a game: Xavier Balc, 4 vs. Cal State Fullerton. Previous record was 3 by John Tomaino at Wisconsin in 1999.
