COLUMBUS, Ohio – The #ProBucks fraternity grew by two members on Tuesday evening as Justin Inacio and Jackson Reid were both selected in the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League Draft.
Inacio was the first Buckeye off the board, going in the third round with the 18th overall selection to the Archers. Reid was next, as he was taken in the fourth round – No. 26 overall – to the Whipsnakes. Inacio and Reid’s selections give Ohio State 26 professional draft picks in program history.
Inacio, a fifth-year senior from Oakville, Ontario, is Ohio State’s all-time leader with over 700 career face-off wins. He’s also nearing another significant achievement: Inacio is just three ground balls shy of breaking Jake Withers’ career record of 351.
This season, Inacio is ninth nationally in face-win percentage at .591 (185-of-313) and 31st in ground balls per game (5.96). Earlier in April, he was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Last August, Inacio was chosen with the 10th overall pick by the Calgary Roughnecks in the NLL Draft. He’s a biology major and business minor who has been an OSU Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten honoree throughout his career.
Reid, from Guelph, Ontario, is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Ohio State history. In 60 career games, he’s scored 130 times – good for third-most in program history. This season, he’s tops on the team with 46 goals and has added 15 assists for a career-high 61 points.
A sport industry major, Reid was a second-team All-Big Ten selection this spring and today was named a second team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. He’s second in the Big Ten in goals per game (3.07) and fifth in points per game (4.07).
The 2022 PLL season begins the weekend of June 4-5 and continues through the league championship game, which is scheduled for September 18.
