COLUMBUS, Ohio-Four members of the Ohio State men’s soccer team were honored today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Tony Earp (Plantation, Fla.), Jake Traeger (Sr., Littleton, Colo.), Andy Rosenband (Sr., Hammond, Ind.) and Justin Cook (Jr., Winter Springs, Fla.) all were named to the 2002 All-Ohio teams. Earp, Traeger and Rosenband garnered first team honors and Cook was named to the second team. Traeger and Rosenband also were selected to the second team All-Great Lakes Region team.
Serving as the leader of the Buckeye defense, Traeger was one of only four Buckeyes to start all 19 games in 2002. A versatile and athletic defender, he helped Ohio State record a conference-leading nine shutouts while recording one assist in the final regular season game at Northwestern.
Rosenband once again led the Buckeyes in every offensive category. He recorded seven goals (four game-winners) and six assists for 20 points, took 70 total shots and started all 19 games for the Buckeyes at the forward position. He was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2002 (Sept. 2 and Nov. 11).
Earp was another Buckeye to start every game in 2002. Serving as captain, Earp tallied two goals and one assist for five points from the midfield spot. Earp was a second team All-Ohio selection in 2001.
Cook was second on the team in scoring with 14 points (five goals, four assists). He recorded three assists in two games during the 2002 Scarlet and Gray Classic in August, earning tournament MVP honors. He started all 17 games in which he played. Cook also was an All-Ohio selection in 2001.
