COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association released its preseason coaches poll along with the 2023 MIVA Preseason All-MIVA Team Thursday.
Senior Samuel Clark along with junior Jacob Pasteur were named to the preseason squad while the Buckeyes were picked to finish third.
Pasteur led Ohio State a year ago in sets played (104), kills (417), total attacks (808) and aces (38). He was second in total blocks with 59.
Clark played in 103 sets in 2022 with 377 kills, 796 attacks, 35 aces and 42 blocks.
Ohio State tied with preseason favorite Ball State with three first-place votes.
The voting was close among the first three teams in the poll with Ball State leading with 56 points, followed by No. 2 Loyola Chicago (54) and the Buckeyes (53).
Ohio State opens the 2023 season Jan. 5 (7 p.m.) at the Covelli Center in Columbus against Central State.
