COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will start a nine-game homestand to close out the regular season on Tuesday night by hosting Campbell at Bill Davis Stadium. The teams will play a pair of games this week with Tuesday’s game beginning at 6:05 p.m. and Wednesday’s game starting at 3:05 p.m.

This will be the second and third meetings between the two teams this season. The teams met at the Armed Forces Invitational in Fayetteville, N.C. on March 4 with Campbell winning that game 7-2. Ohio State has an all-time record of 4-3 against Campbell, last playing them prior to this year in 2018 when they split a two-game set.

  • Campbell is having a stellar season, coming into the week at 30-14 on the year

  • Campbell is coming off a three-game weekend sweep at Winthrop in which it scored 43 threes in the three games.

  • Campbell is in the Top 10 in the country in slugging and home runs per game as three Camels have 10 or more home runs on the year led by Drake Pierson with 13
  • He likely won’t pitch in the midweek but Friday starter Thomas Harrington 9-1 this season with a 1.23 ERA which is fifth in the country
  • Tuesday starter sophomore Cade Kuehler has made 11 starts and is 3-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 58.1 innings. He has 71 strikeouts and just 30 walks on the season.

Ohio State Quick Hitters

  • Ohio State is coming off its best weekend of the year, scoring 45 runs and sweeping a three-game series from Northwestern.
  • The Buckeyes scored 29 runs in a five-inning span between game one and game two of the doubleheader on Saturday
  • Brent Todys had an on-base percentage of .632 and in the three games vs. the Wildcats and he hit .667 (10-of-15) with nine RBI and two home runs. He is now second on the team in batting at .343.
  • Todys raised his batting average by .86 points over the last three weeks and is now second on the team with a .343 average. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and has had a hit in nine of the last 10 and 15 of the last 17 games.
  • Blayne Robinson played in two of the three games vs. Northwestern last weekend and was 5-of-7 with all five hits being doubles. He also scored seven runs.
  • Mitchell Okuley was 7-of-10 in the series last weekend and drove in seven. Okuley has reached base safely in the last 10 games.
  • Zach Dezenzo is on a season-high 11-game hitting streak and is now hitting .310 on the season. He hit a home run in game two last weekend and now has 13 on the season and 32 for his career, tying him for ninth in OSU history.
  • Marcus Ernst is hitting .353 on the season and has a team-high 19 multi-hit games this season. He is still second in the Big Ten with 34 walks and has a .454 on-base percentage.
  • On the mound, freshman Jacob Gehring will be making his fourth start of the season. He is 0-2 with a 6.98 ERA in 19.1 innings of work.
  • Grad transfer Aaron Funk will start on Wednesday. He too is 0-2 and will be making his fourth start of the year. He didn’t factor into the decision last week in his start at Kent State but he went 3.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out three.
  • Nate Karaffa has picked up the win in each of his last two appearances and is 3-1 on the season. He has made 21 appearances and has 30 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.
  • Ethan Hammerberg collected two saves last week and now has five on the season. He is tied for the team-lead with 22 appearances and has recorded 43 strikeouts and just eight walks in 31.2 innings.
