
Buckeyes Host Nittany Lions in B1G Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team opens conference competition this weekend against Penn State on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Covelli Center. The meet between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required).

Ohio State as of Late
- Lexi Edwards and Colby Miller both have two individual titles this year. Edwards has won both vault titles with team-high scores of 9.875 while Colby Miller earned the bars title with a team-high score of 9.875 at Arkansas and 9.850 against Denver.
- The trio of Edwards, Miller and Stephanie Berger ranks in the top 10 of the Big Ten through two weeks of meets. Miller ranks fifth on bars with an average score of 9.863. Edwards follows at sixth on vault, averaging 8.875. Following a collegiate debut bars routine score of 9.850, Berger ranks 10th in the conference.
- Ohio State ranks fourth in the Big Ten overall with an average score of 195.388 through the first two weeks of the season.
- The Buckeyes look to win their first meet of the year this weekend after falling to Arkansas and Denver.
- Edwards set a career high on floor last week against Denver, scoring a 9.875. She is tied with Jenna Hlavach for the team’s individual season high on the apparatus.
- Leading the Buckeyes on beam this year is Ella Hodges, who hit a 9.875 at Arkansas.
Buckeyes vs. Nittany Lions
- In the last meeting between Penn State and Ohio State, the Buckeyes defeated the Nittany Lions in a tri-meet at Covelli with a final score of 196.000.
- Penn State is fifth in the Big Ten rankings, averaging a score of 194.525 through two meets this season. The team has defeated Penn, Temple and Yale headed into this weekend.
Reminder to Fans
- Due to other home athletics events, fans parking for women’s gymnastics must let parking attendants know that they are parking for the gymnastics meet.
- The university and City of Columbus policies require wearing of masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, for all faculty, staff and invitees. The department requires all patrons at our events to wear your mask at all times for your own safety and for the health, safety and well-being of others, including our student-athletes, campus community and visitors. The university and the Department of Athletics encourage individuals to get vaccinated, boostered and to continue safety protocols.
- Concessions will be closed at all university-related athletic events. Water will be available. Fans will not be permitted to bring food/beverage into athletic facilities.
