SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Ohio State made 18 birdies as a team on Tuesday but the Buckeyes’ bid for a title at the Spartan Collegiate came up just short. The team finished in a tie for fifth at 4-under par.
Freshman Maxwell Moldovan posted a second top ten finish in just his second collegiate event He finished tied for sixth at 4-under par after carding a final round 70. Moldovan has yet to post an over-par round in his two collegiate events.
Elis Svard made five of the 18 birdies on Tuesday in his round of 3-under 69. That was his lowest round of the young season and it lifted him into a tie for 21st at even-par. Fellow Swede Felix Kvarnstrom was just a shot back at 1-over par following his final round 72.
Adam Wallin followed his second round 68 with a 74 and tied for 49th at 5-over par and Patrick Schmucking rounded out the Buckeye five with a 79 on Tuesday.
Ohio State will be right back down south in a week for the prestigious Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. The 54-hole event will be played on March 15 and 16.
