Zenick, Eden Claim B1G Weekly Swimming Awards

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Katherine Zenick and Jessica Eden have earned Big Ten weekly honors, announced by the conference on Wednesday. Zenick has been named the women’s Swimmer of the Week for the second week in a row and Eden has earned Freshman of the Week recognition.

Zenick and Eden helped the Buckeyes to a win at the Tim Welsh Classic at Notre Dame this past weekend.

Zenick had a phenomenal weekend and was a part of seven broken pool records at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Zenick earned her first individual win of the weekend in the 50 free with an NCAA B standard time of 21.96, which is a pool record. She also picked up wins in the 100 fly (51.03) and 100 free (47.62). Both are NCAA B cut times and pool records. Zenick was on the winning 200 free relay (1:26.84), 400 medley relay (3:30.77), 200 medley relay (1:34.80) and 400 free relay (3:10.91) teams. All four of those times are NCAA A standard times and Rolfs Aquatic Center pool records. Zenick was also on the first-place 800 free relay (7:11.90) team.

Eden earned four individual top-10 finishes on the weekend. Eden placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.85. She finished the 400 IM in an NCAA B standard time of 4:14.81 to finish fourth. Eden earned a 10th-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 1:58.25. Eden was also on the fifth-place 800 free relay (7:24.24) team.

The Buckeyes return to action Feb. 10-12 when they host the Ohio State Winter Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
