COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference on Friday announced its postseason all-conference teams and individual awards with three Buckeyes who were honored: Jack Myers (first team), Ryan Terefenko (second team and Sportsmanship Award honoree) and Tre Leclaire (second team).
For Myers, it’s the first all-conference award of his career. Leclaire is now a four-time All-Big Ten selection – the first in program history – having earned second-team honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Terefenko, a three-time honoree, was previously a first-team pick in 2018 and 2019.
Myers, a junior from Bethesda, Md., has been remarkably consistent this season. He’s scored at least two goals in all 10 games and has finished with four or more points seven times. Myers currently ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game (3.10) and sixth in points per game (4.10). His 31 goals and 41 points are both team highs while his 10 assists are second-most on the squad.
Myers’ biggest statistical game came on March 20 when he had four goals and two assists against Maryland. He also finished with five points in back-to-back games against Rutgers (April 3) and Johns Hopkins (April 10) on a combined seven goals and three assists.
A finance major, Myers was an Academic All-Big selection last year as well as an OSU Scholar-Athlete.
Leclaire, who earlier this week was the No. 13 overall selection by the Archers LC in the Premier Lacrosse League Draft, became the Buckeyes’ all-time leading goal scorer this season and enters Saturday’s game vs. Michigan with 200 career points on 158 goals and 42 assists. He ranks 10th in the Big Ten in goals per game (2.30) and has at least one tally in 35 straight games dating back to the 2018 season. His 158 career goals is the seventh most amongst active Division I players.
Leclaire graduated last May with his degree in sport industry and is enrolled in Ohio State’s sports management master’s degree program. He was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2019-20 for having a grade-point average of 3.70 or better.
Despite missing five games and most of a sixth with an injury, Terefenko has proven why he’s one of the most versatile players in the entire country. He plays both offensive and defensive midfield, is on the Buckeyes’ man-up unit, plays the wings of face-offs and has even taken 11 draws at the X with six wins. His all-around game was best on display April 10 vs. Johns Hopkins when he scored three goals – all in the span of three minutes in the first quarter – picked up eight ground balls and took two face-offs.
Terefenko was selected with the 12th overall pick in last Monday’s Premier Lacrosse League Draft. He is a graduate student in Ohio State’s sports management master’s degree program as well as an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and OSU Scholar-Athlete. Additionally, he’s a three-time team captain.
The 20th-ranked Buckeyes host Michigan on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament at 4 p.m. The game will air live on BTN.
