Emilia Fritz joined the Ohio State coaching staff in August of 2026 after exhausting her athletics eligibility earlier in May.
As an assistant coach, Fritz will utilize skills in engineering to evaluate data, rigging math/physics and 3D printing while helping the coaching staff optimize data collection and storage.
She graduated from Ohio State in May of 2026 with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Fritz also will work with organizing the walk-on members of the team and will primarily assist with coaching Ohio State's 4v8.
As an Ohio State athlete, Fritz began her career as a freshman in the Fall of 2022 and finished her first year at NCAAs in the 1v8. She dealt with some injuries during her time with the Buckeyes but raced in the 1v8 in the Spring of 2025 and the Spring of 2026.

“Emilia’s knowledge and understanding of the sport is absolutely unbeatable and her drive to get things done and win is exactly what we were looking for,” Gackowski said. “Her rowing prowess and background in engineering is a huge part of why we wanted to hire her. She is one of the few people out there who understands how rowing feels and can simultaneously articulate the science of that feeling. She will be a fantastic addition to the staff and a huge asset for everyone.”
