Emily Gackowski, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced the hiring of U.S. Olympian Ben Davison as an assistant coach in August of 2025.
Davison is a University of Washington graduate and while rowing with the Huskies was named the PAC-12 Men's Rowing Athlete of the Year in 2019.
He is a two-time Olympian with Team USA. He recently competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics and finished fourth in the men's double sculls. He competed in Tokyo in the 2020 Games and helped the United States to a fourth-place finish in the men's eight.
"Ben was the perfect addition to this new staff," Gackowski said. "His experience as an athlete is incredible and he brings a perspective to our team that few others have. Our coaching philosophies align well and I think our student-athletes will really enjoy learning from him. Having an Olympian on staff is truly amazing and we are lucky to have found Ben, but having a good human with a great technical eye and a fantastic understanding of our sport is even better."
