2015 (Senior Season): Finished 10th on vault at the Big Ten event finals (March 28) … finished seventh on vault at the Big Ten team finals (March 27) … competed on vault at the Arnold Classic Challenge (March 7) … won vault with a 15.150 against Michigan (Feb. 28) … tied for second on vault againt Penn State (14.900) … finished in a tie for fifth on vault against Oklahoma and Iowa … won vault with a score of 15.250 against Illinois (Jan. 24) … tied for second on vault with a score of 15.000 at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 17).
2014 (Junior Season): Competed on vault at the NCAA qualifier and team finals (April 10-11)…earned a second-place finish on vault with a 15.00 at the Arnold Challenge (March 1) … had a career high of 15.800 on vault that earned first place at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 18) … Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
2013 (Sophomore Season): Competed in every meet of the season for the Buckeyes … earned a third-place finish on vault with a 15.00 at the Windy City Invitational Jan. 19 … placed first on vault (15.35) against Michigan Feb. 16 … scored a career-high 13.90 on parallel bars against Illinois Feb. 23 … placed third on vault with a 14.70 against UIC March 9 … posted a second-place finish on vault at Oklahoma March 23 with 15.10 … scored a career-high 15.40 on vault at the Big Ten championships April 5, advancing to the Big Ten event finals April 6 where he placed eighth with a 14.125 … earned Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honors.
2012 (Freshman Season): Competed on vault and parallel bars throughout the season for the Scarlet and Gray … tied for third on vault (14.90) at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 19) … also scored a career-high 13.60 on parallel bars … tied for first on vault against Oklahoma Jan. 21 with a 15.000 … scored a 14.70 on vault to tie for fourth against Michigan and Brockport (Feb. 18) … placed fifth on vault (14.900) against Penn State on Feb. 25 … placed second on vault against Illinois on March 2 with a 15.200 … qualified for the Big Ten championship event finals on vault with a 15.05 … finished the event finals (April 7) in fourth overall with a 15.15 … recorded the team’s highest score on vault during NCAA qualifying (April 19), scoring a career-high 15.300 … placed ninth on vault at the NCAA championships event finals (April 21) with a 14.25 … named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
Prior to Ohio State: Trained and competed under coaches Chad Ford and Jeff Greene at DeVeau’s School of Gymnastics … three-time national qualifier … placed second overall on vault and 56th overall in the all-around at the 2011 Junior Olympics National Championships.
Personal: Son of Larry and Amy Mayer … has one sister, Ashley … favorite pastimes are gymnastics, hunting and fishing … plans to coach gymnastics after completion of undergraduate studies … lists greatest sports thrill as sticking his vault at the Big Ten championships in 2012.
