Jimmy Beck joined the program in April of 2023 as an interim coach and was named an assistant coach one month later in May of 2023.
Â
In his first week with the team, Beck helped lead the Buckeyes to a title at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate and helped guide the team to a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championship and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Auburn Regional, earning a trip to the NCAA Championship.
The 2024-25 campaign was Beck's first full season and with four seniors, it had lofty expectations prior to the year. In the end, the team lived up to those expectations. Led by a tremendous senior group of Neal Shipley, Maxwell Moldovan, Adam Wallin and Jackson Chandler, the Buckeye recorded seven Top 5 finishes, including a win at the Southwestern Invitational in January. A tough runner-up finish at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate was followed by a mediocre fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championship, which was played at nearby Scioto Country Club. But the team regrouped and finished fourth at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional and then turned a ton a heads at the NCAA Championship. The Buckeyes finished seventh through four rounds of stroke play to earn a spot in match play and then took down the No. 2 team in the country, Vanderbilt, in the quarterfinals. They then battled No. 1 Auburn into extra holes before eventually falling 3-2.Â
The third place finish at the 2024 NCAA Championship was the best best finish at the NCAA Championship since winning in 1979. Individually, Adam Wallin became the first Buckeye to finish in the top 10 at the NCAA Championship since 1995 as he held the 54-hole lead and finished in a tie for 8th at 1-under par.
Coming off of a senior-laden team, the 2024-25 team was young. The core was made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores. The team gained confidence as the year went and would finish the year strong, winning three out of its final four events, including the National Golf Invitational at the end of the year. The Buckeyes also finished fifth at the Big Ten Championship behind a seventh place by sophomore Tyler Sabo. One of the individual highlights of the year came in the fall when Jack Vojtko won the East Lake Cup after a phenomenal round of 66.

Beck was a four-year letterwinner for Moseley at Kennesaw State from 2011-15 and has been in professional golf since graduation. He returns to the collegiate ranks to begin his coaching career and Moseley is excited to add his background to the program.

He claimed three collegiate titles and also won the prestigious Georgia State Amateur in the summer between his sophomore and junior seasons. He advanced to match play at the 2014 U.S. Amateur and was named to the PING All-Southeast Region team in 2015.
Â
The Columbus, Ga., native was also a two-time A-Sun Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a two-time GCAA All-America Scholar. As a senior, he earned Capital One Academic All-District At-Large First Team honors as well as the Kennesaw State Dr. Dave Waples Total Person Award.
Â
He graduated magna cum laude in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
Â
Following graduation, Beck remained with Moseley as a volunteer assistant coach at KSU for the fall semester before embarking on a professional golf career over the next four years. He picked up a mini-tour victory and played two seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour.
