DAYTON, Ohio – Junior Sofia Seldemirova earned her first-career victory Tuesday at the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club. After a solid first day of competition shooting a 4-over 74, Seldemirova ended the second and final round of play with a 1-under par 69. Her total score of 143 was enough to claim her the individual title.
“Sofia has worked very hard all fall and I’m pleased her game came together today. She managed her game very well, keeping the ball under the hole for many birdie opportunities,” Therese Hession, Ohio State director of golf, said. “She kept great composure in very windy conditions. I hope it’s the start of many good things ahead of her.”
Junior Alanis Sakuma also had an impressive performance over the two-day tournament, concluding the tournament with a fifth-place finish with a total score of 149. She remained consistent carding a 5-over 75, following her 74 from round one. Senior Alex Wright shot an 8-over 78 on the second day of competition to land her in a tie for 34th.
