COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jamie Henderson will join the Ohio State men’s gymnastics staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2019-20 season, head coach Rustam Sharipov announced Monday.
“I am happy and excited to welcome Jamie Henderson to Buckeye Nation,” said Sharipov. “I have a long history of coaching Jamie from his club days in Houston to his collegiate career at Oklahoma. I know he will be a great asset to our program with all of his gymnastics experience and expertise. With over 10 years of coaching experience along with collegiate and USA Gymnastics success, he will be able to bring new and different perspectives and knowledge to our Buckeye gymnastics family.”
Henderson has been coaching at the club level since 2007 and has coached numerous Junior Olympic National qualifiers and a Junior National Team member. He has coached at Oklahoma Gold Star, Queen City Gymnastics, in Cincinnati, and most recently at Star Center Gymnastics in his home state of Texas.
“It is an honor to work at a university with as much history and tradition as The Ohio State University,” said Henderson. “I am looking forward to helping student-athletes add to the legacy of the men’s gymnastics program.”
During his competitive career, Henderson was a member of the USA National Team as well as a five-time All-American and a three-time NCAA team champion at the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated in 2006 with a major in studio art.
