Pasteur Powers No. 15 Buckeyes to 3-0 Win Over Lions

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 15 Ohio State (7-6, 3-3) evened its record in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) win over visiting Lindenwood (3-8, 1-5) Friday at the Covelli Center.

Jacob Pasteur hit .714 for the game with no errors and 15 kills on 21 swings to lead the Buckeyes. Cole Young also played an errorless game with seven kills on nine attempts (.778).

Noah Platfoot led both teams with 33 assists while Clark was tops in digs with eight.

Set One: The Buckeyes cruised to a 25-16 win in the first set. Ohio State hit .364 while Lindenwood hit a negative .069. Four Buckeyes had multiple kills in the opening set with Clark leading with three. Lindenwood started with a 2-0 lead. Ohio State gained control for good at 6-5 on a Clark kill. The Buckeyes finished off the set on a 19-11 run.

Set Two: The Buckeyes took set two 25-20. The teams were close early before The Buckeyes took a 14-12 lead on a Pasteur kill. Ohio State took an 18-14 lead on a block by Ethan Talley and Noah Platfoot. The Buckeyes then outscored the Lions 7-6 the rest of the way for the win. Ohio State hit .655 in the set and after two connected at a .529 clip. The Lions hit .370 in the second to improve to .143 after two. Pasteur hit .733 over the first two sets and led both teams with 11 kills.

Set Three: The teams remained neck-and-neck until the Buckeyes took a 15-11 lead forcing a Lions timeout. Ohio State continued to score in building a 20-11 advantage which led to another Lindenwood timeout, this time after a Clark kill. The Buckeyes finished off the Lions to win the match with a 25-19 win in the third.

Up Next

Ohio State will step out of conference next weekend to take on Lincoln Memorial March 5 (7 p.m.) and March 6 (4 p.m.) at the Covelli Center.
