Ohio State Roster Grows with Cabana Addition


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Alex Cabana, who played last year at Life University in Georgia, will join the Buckeyes for the 2023 season as a transfer, Kevin Burch, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced Thursday.

The six-foot-five-inch Cabana played the middle blocker and opposite hitter positions during his three years at Life. He attended high school in Miami, Florida. He is originally from Banes, Cuba.

As a junior in 2022, Cabana helped lead the Running Eagles to a 17-7 record. He played in 83 sets with 184 kills and a hitting percentage of .402. He also added 27 assists, 52 digs and 92 blocks for a total of 267.5 points on the year.

Cabana reached double-digit kills in nine matches with Life posting an 8-1 record in those games.
