COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend for the North Regional Championships on Sunday, Feb. 27. The Buckeyes aim to qualify all routines for U.S. Collegiate Nationals at the meet.
Ohio State will face Michigan and Minnesota at the North Regional Championship meet tomorrow. The Buckeyes have competed against the Wolverines twice this season, earning wins in each meeting.
The regional championship serves as the Buckeyes’ final chance to showcase their routines ahead of the 2022 U.S. Collegiate National Championship.
Last Time Out
Ohio State displayed strong routines last week as the Scarlet team competed at the Arizona Collegiate Invite and the Gray team competed at the Wheaton College Invitational. The Gray team took first against Wheaton and Boston University with top finishes in the A Figures, B figures, solo, duet and trio. The Scarlet squad swept the events in Arizona as they earned a first-place finish against Arizona and Grand Canyon.
Buckeyes at the North Regional Championship
In the last five North Regional Championships, Ohio State has earned 15 titles across all four routines. At the 2020 meet, the Buckeyes went undefeated with wins in solo, duet, trio and team. Laila Huric, Rachel Jager, Paige Hopper, Nikki Dzurko, Camryn Carrasco, Rose Homoelle, Ava Lichter and Olivia Schafer have all previously won titles at the regional championship meet.
