COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State opened this three-game Big Ten Conference series against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., with a 3-0 victory Friday evening. The Buckeyes improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten Conference and to 22-6 overall with its third consecutive win and its eighth win in its last nine games. Michigan State drops to 19-13 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten.
Senior Jaycee Ruberti hit a solo home run in the first inning and sophomore McKenzie Bump hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning to provide starter Lexie Handley all the runs she needed.
Handley improved to 12-3 with the complete game win, her 12th complete game of the season. She allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking just one for her sixth consecutive win.
