COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14 Ohio State men’s volleyball team continues MIVA play at McKendree this weekend. The Buckeyes and Bearcats will meet at 8:30 p.m. ET Friday and 8 p.m. ET Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Buckeyes (2-4, 1-1 MIVA) split their series with No. 3 Lewis last weekend. Ohio State handed the Flyers their first loss of the season with a 3-1 win to open the series. Freshman Jacob Pasteur tallied 20 kills on Friday and had his first double-double (11 kills, 11 digs) on Saturday. Martin Lallemand also served up a career-high five aces in the first match.
HISTORY WITH MCKENDREE
Ohio State has an 11-1 lead in the all-time series with McKendree. The Buckeyes are 4-0 when visiting the Bearcats in Illinois. Ohio State won last year’s meeting in Columbus in straight sets.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
McKendree improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the MIVA after sweeping its series with Lindenwood last weekend. Francisco Comas was the conference’s defensive player of the week for his efforts. The Bearcats lead the country in blocks per set (3.72).
NATIONALLY KNOWN
Jacob Pasteur is averaging 4.37 kills and 4.97 points per set, which ranks fourth and fifth respectively, among the nation’s leaders. As a team, the Buckeyes check in at No. 7 in aces per set (1.68), 18th in kills per set (11.16) and 19th in assists per set (10.26).
MIVA RECOGNITION
Rookie Jacob Pasteur earned his first weekly honor as a Buckeye after being named MIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. He posted 20 kills, five digs, three blocks and two service aces in the Buckeyes’ 3-1 upset win over the Flyers on Friday. The Westminster, Md., native tallied the first Ohio State double-double of the season and of his career with 11 kills and 11 digs on Saturday. The outside hitter has led the Buckeyes in scoring in five of their six matches this season and recorded double-digit kills in four straight outings.
