
No. 10 Buckeyes Host Rutgers and Maryland This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team (11-3, 8-1 B1G) is back in Columbus for two matches this weekend. The Buckeyes will take on Maryland at 4 p.m. Friday and Rutgers at noon Sunday. The Friday match will be played inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center, while the Sunday match is slated to be played outdoors (but will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather).

Buckeye This and That
- The Buckeyes played at Penn State, their travel partner, last weekend, posting a 6-1 win. Ohio State won the doubles point and five singles matches, with four straight set victories.
- The Buckeyes are 10th in the ITA rankings this week. The squad started the year at No. 13 and moved into the Top 10 Jan. 27.
- In the Big Ten standings, Michigan is first with a 10-0 mark. Northwestern is 9-1, with Ohio State 8-1. Nebraska is 7-3, Wisconsin is 6-3 and Iowa is 6-4.
- Ohio State has won the doubles point in 11 of 13 matches this season, including in its nine Big Ten matches. In doubles, the squad is 9-1 on court one and 11-2 on court three, with a 6-6 mark on court two, posting a 19-1 mark in B1G matches.
- Lucia Marzal (13-2) leads Ohio State in overall singles wins, followed by Luna Dormet (12-1) and Irina Cantos Siemers (12-4) with 12 each. In dual play, Marzal is 11-1 and Dormet is 10-1 to lead the Buckeyes. Marzal is 8-0 in Big Ten action, with Dormet 7-1. Allen, Boulais and Cantos Siemers all have six Big Ten singles victories.
- In dual matches, the doubles tandem of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais is a team-best 8-1, all on court one. The duo of Dormet/Cantos Siemers is 6-0 and Hofbauer/Marzal are 6-1.
Ohio State vs Maryland
- Ohio State is 8-1 all-time against Maryland.
- The teams met Feb. 19 in College Park, Md., with Ohio State winning 5-2. The Buckeyes won the doubles point and four singles matches for the team victory.
- The last match in Columbus was a 7-0 Buckeye win April 1, 2017.
- The Terrapins are 0-8 overall and in Big Ten play. Last weekend Maryland hosted Michigan State and Michigan, falling to both, 5-2.
Buckeyes vs. Rutgers
- The Buckeyes have posted a 5-2 record against the Scarlet Knights all-time.
- The teams met Feb. 21 in East Brunswick, N.J., a 7-0 Ohio State victory. The Buckeyes won the doubles point and all six singles matches in straight sets.
- The last match between the teams in Columbus was March 31, 2017, with Ohio State winning 6-1.
- Rutgers is 1-7 overall this year overall and in the Big Ten.
- Last weekend the Scarlet Knights fell at home to Michigan, 6-1, and defeated Michigan State, 4-3.
