Golf Programs to Honor CMSgt Kenneth C. Adams Through Folds of Honor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State golf programs will honor retired Chief Master Sergeant Kenneth C. Adams, a native of Tiffin, Ohio, through the Folds of Honor initiative during the 2026-27 season. Adams dedicated more than 30 years of service to the United States Air Force, culminating in his role as superintendent of the 88th Mission Support Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
“Ohio State Golf is incredibly proud to carry the name of Chief Master Sergeant Kenneth C. Adams on our bag this season,” women’s golf head coach Lisa Strom said. “His 30 years of service, sacrifice and selfless leadership are an example to all of us. As Buckeyes, it is a privilege to honor an Ohio native who dedicated his career to serving our country and those around him.”
Growing up in Ohio, Adams entered the Air Force through the delayed enlistment program in November 1984 and built a distinguished military career that included leadership roles across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Throughout his service, he held positions in radio and television maintenance, communications operations and as a First Sergeant before advancing to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
“What an honor it is to have the Buckeyes carrying a bag in my name at all season," Adams said. "As a 30-year veteran of the US Air Force, seeing the programs represent this cause means the world. I’ll be cheering you on at American Dunes and the rest of the season. Make us proud, and GO BUCKS!!”
As superintendent of the 88th Mission Support Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Adams served as the principal enlisted advisor on matters affecting health, morale, welfare and effective utilization of the enlisted force. His responsibilities supported an organization overseeing security and law enforcement, logistics, transportation, personnel services, education and training, deployment operations and numerous other mission-critical functions.
During his career, Adams deployed in support of numerous operations, including Joint Guard, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. His assignments took him around the globe, including tours in Panama, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Japan, Iraq, Qatar and Djibouti.
Adams' commitment to leadership and excellence was reflected in his educational achievements and military recognition. He earned associate degrees in Electronics Systems Technology and Human Resource Management from the Community College of the Air Force and later completed a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management from Excelsior College.
Among his many honors, Adams received the Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters and multiple achievement awards recognizing his exceptional service. He was also named First Sergeant of the Year at Yokota Air Base, Japan, in 2003 and First Sergeant of the Year for the 31st Maintenance Group at Aviano Air Base, Italy, in 2007.
Promoted to Chief Master Sergeant on Oct. 1, 2010, Adams concluded his military career following his service as superintendent of the 88th Mission Support Group and retired from the Air Force on Dec. 1, 2014.
The Buckeye teams will each carry one bearing CMSgt Adams name throughout the season, with a different player carrying the bag each week. At the end of the season, the bags will be auctioned off, with the funds going directly to Folds of Honor to help fund scholarships.
