How it Happened
- Ohio State struck first in Sunday's game, scoring at 8:49 off its first corner of the game. Autum Kernechel inserted the ball on the corner and connected with Anne Marie Krebs at the top of the circle. She stopped the ball for Phillippa Jowett, who sent the ball into the bottom right corner of the cage for the 1-0 Buckeye lead.
- Boston College had an immediate response, scoring its first goal of the game at 10:11 to send the game into the quarter break tied at 1-1.
- The game remained knotted at 1-1 at the half after a second quarter with just one shot recorded. Ohio State had the lone corner of the second frame and a shot from Carmelo Maro was blocked on the opportunity.
- The Eagles took their first lead of the game at 33:45 on a penalty corner. The Buckeyes earned a quarter at the end of the quarter and had a couple good chances, but Boston College goalkeeper Charlotte Kramer didn't let anything through.
- With under five minutes left in regulation, Ohio State scored on its final penalty corner of the game. It was Jowett again, this time sending a shot straight down the circle and through the legs of Kramer. Kernechel and Victoria Kutz earned the assists on the goal.
- Both teams defenses held strong in the 15-minute sudden victory overtime period, as neither the Buckeyes or Eagles allowed a shot on goal. Ohio State blocked two shots in the circle and Boston College blocked another as nothing made it on cage to end the game in overtime.
- In the penalty shootout, the Buckeyes shot first. Both teams missed in the first two rounds. Kernechel scored the first goal of the shootout in the third round, but the Eagles also made their shot of the round. In the next round, both Katie Fichtner and Boston College scored to tie the shooutout at 2-2 through four rounds. Boston College made a save and scored in the fifth round for the win.
- Phillippa Jowett scored her first two goals of her career in Sunday's game against the Eagles. She is the second Buckeye this season to record a multi-goal game.
- Sunday's game was the second overtime contest for Ohio State this season. The Buckeyes are now 1-1 in Second overtime in games that go to a penalty shootout.
